Burnaby is Vancouver's oldest and most inner suburb, home to some 200,000 people it is also British Columbia's third largest city. Located between the two historic cities of Vancouver and New Westminster, Burnaby has often been at the focal point of transportation throughout Greater Vancouver. The city is well serviced by two rapid transit lines as well as countless major roads and Highway 1.
Within the city limits are two major post secondary institutions, Simon Fraser University and BCIT, British Columbia Institute of Technology. Burnaby is also home to the majority of Metro Vancouver's major companies including Telus, EA Sports and Ballard Power to name a few. While the city has always had several high-rises, more and more in recent years have begun to sprout up beside rapid transit stations.
Much like the rest of the Lower Mainland, Burnaby is home to a large multicultural population. Within the city itself are large communities of Chinese, Koreans, Indo-Canadians and Phillipinos. The city is anchored by three major town centres known as Metrotown, Lougheed and Brentwood. Some smaller centres of note are Edmonds, Kensington and Burnaby Mountain which is where Simon Fraser University is located.

Green space is of major importance in Burnaby and as such the city hosts some of the most spectacular parks within Metro Vancouver. Central park is the most visited, located just beside Metrotown it is reminiscent of both New York's Central Park and Vancouver's Stanley Park. Deer Lake Park is in Central Burnaby and plays host to a number of outdoor concerts each year.
