These discussions don't stop Vancouver Chinatown from being the most recognized and most historic of them all.
Chinatown is home to several restaurants and Chinese herbal medicine stores. The area also hosts a very lively night market during the summer months along Keefer street. The Chinatown Gate located along Pender Street welcomes visitors to the historic neighborhood off of Vancouver's downtown. The most narrow building in the world by Guinness Book of Records definition lies along Pender Street in Chinatown.
Streets sings are in both English and Chinese while street and lamp posts are painted red to signify the area's Chinese heritage. Not to be missed is the Dr. Sun Yat Seng Classical Chinese garden. This garden is noted as one of the best examples of classical Chinese gardens outside of China. While mostly consisting of mid-rise buildings, Chinatown has some of the most expensive per foot real estate in all of Canada.
